This project invites citizens to participate in tracing the urban fabric transformation of Beijing in the last century. To make this transformation tangible, our team mapped Beijing’s plan from the late Qing Dynasty and the current plan on two layers of doormats. There are QR codes embedded in the map on both layers, where people can scan to look up more information about specific historical landmarks.
