Boxes are Just a Phase

Fall 2019

- Bag

Boxes are just a phase for this bag because even though it appears to play along a box boundary, it only unfolds according to the interior lines and divisions. As a result, the box’s shape becomes less limiting, and the bag can take form in diverse and playful combinations of volumes/pockets. This project starts with testing how different stitching would change the fabric’s rigidity. The stiff seams are applied to strengthen lines within the box, while the softer stitches are used to maintain a box’s boundary.
